Use Babump Lawfully
As outlined in our Privacy Agreement, it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that employees consent to how their health data may be used by the company. Employers must have an agreement with employees that detail the monitoring and sharing of their health data, including the use of Babump, and act in accordance with privacy policy attaining to the health monitors themselves. We advise employers to have a Privacy Agreement as part of their wellness plans. The embedded camera in the 2016 model presents an additional privacy consideration. Private companies generally have the right to have cameras in the workplace, as long as it is done for a legitimate reason, and they are not installed in areas where an employee might expect some measure of privacy. States vary widely as to what areas of a workplace may be legitimately recorded, we advise employers to consult with their state’s labor agency to find out more specific information. In any situation, employers must provide notice to their employees of existing cameras. Note that Babump is not a lie-detector test and may not be used in that capacity.

Product Limitations

Currently, Babump only receives signals from uncoded Polar heart monitors, though we are exploring partnerships with other fitness trackers, smart watches and smart phones. We invite you to sign up for our mailing list to receive notifications of our progress.

Accuracy of Data

We make no claims to the accuracy of our estimations of employee disposition. The algorithms used to deduce mood, health, and character from heart data are derived from machine learning applied to a small but growing body of data, and do not show results of statistical significance. We are conducting studies to refine our algorithms and test the validity of our results, and will post findings to our website.
